Milky Way galaxy is often known as Akash Ganga in Hindi. This is because at the clear night, the entire galaxy looks like a white and wide river especially like River Ganga. This river shaped being in the sky is named as Akash which means sky. This is why it is called as Akash Ganga. 

Milky Way is a galaxy. Galaxies are huge collections of stars; dust and gas. They contain several million of stars. Their size can range from few thousand to several hundred thousand light years. They have different shapes and brightness. They can be found alone, in pairs or in clusters. The galaxy of Earth is called Milky Way. It is also known as Akash Ganga.

The Sun is at the center of the Solar System. Planets and other celestial bodies revolve around the Sun. The Sun, planets, satellites and smaller objects such as asteroids and comets make up the solar system.

• The asteroid belt in the Solar Sytem is between the orbits of planets Mars and Jupiter. It is located about 2.2 to 3.2 Astronomical Units (AU) from the Sun in which many small bodies orbit the sun.
  

• Moon is the only satellite of the Earth which revolves around the Earth.

• Neptune is the outermost Jovian planet in the solar system.
• Till 2006 Pluto was the farthest planet from the Sun. In 2006, The International Astronomical Union (IAU) downgraded the status of Pluto to that of a dwarf planet.
