Hindi language was coming into vogue, and Shah Jahan himself spoke Hindi and patronized Hindi poets like Sundar Das and Chintamani and Hindi musicians like Jagan Nath, Sukh Sen, and Lal Khan.
Akbar was the third Mughal Emperor. He was born in Umerkot, India. He was the son of Emperor Humayun. He became emperor at age 13. He is considered to be one of the greatest rulers of India. He began a time of religious tolerance and appreciation for the arts. Akbar had great respect for the Rajputs.He realised that with their support, he could consolidate his empire.
The Mansabdari system was the administrative system of the Mughal Empire introduced by Akbar in 1595-96 CE. The word mansab is of Arabic origin meaning rank or position. The system, hence, determined the rank of a government official. Every civil and military officer was given a ‘mansab’ and different numbers which could be divided by ten were used for ranking officers. It was also meant for fixing the salaries and allowances of officers.
