In 2100 BC, China's population was 4-5m almost 1/8th of the world's population at that time - 35m. In 1910 - China was close to 440m when the world's population was 1.7-1.8bn which was almost 25%.

• According to the 2011 census, there were 27 million-plus cities in India, with Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai being the largest. 
  
• There are 54 urban agglomerations in India with a population of 1 million or more as of 2011 against 35 in 2001.

• Gender inequality refers to health, education, economic and political inequalities between men and women in India.
  
• However, when India's population is examined as a whole, women are at a disadvantage in several ways.
