Explanation
Terylene is formed by condensation of ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid. It is a copolymer and also polyester fibre.A type of polymerization mechanism in which bi-functional or multifunctional monomers react to form first dimers then trimers, longer oligomers etc. is called step-growth polymerization. Hence , Terylene is is stepgrowth polymer.
Most of the structures of living things are comprised of natural polymers. There are three main types. 1) polynucleotide’s, which are chains of nucleotides. 2) polyamides, which are chains of proteins made of amino acids joined together by the peptide bonds. And 3) polysaccharides, which are chains of sugars. Hence Cellulose is an organic polysaccharide consisting of a linear chain of linked D-glucose units where as Starches are polymers of sugars, often glucose
Polymerization is a process of reacting monomer molecules together in a chemical reaction to form larger molecules or polymers.
Nylon 6,6 has strong intermolecular forces like hydrogen bonding.
Nylon and cellulose both have intermolecular bonding and polyvinyl chloride has dipole-dipole interaction. Whereas natural rubber is an elastomer. The irregular geometry of the molecules involves weak Van der Waals force of attraction.
Rayon is a manufactured regenerated cellulose fibre .It is made from purified cellulose , primarily from wood pulp , which is chemically converted into soluble compound
