Explanation
With cryptand – 222, Na forms an unusual compound of the formula, [Na (cryptand-222)]+ Na–. The large cryp ligand completely shields the Na+ ion and prevents it combining with Na–.
This type of unusual complexes are called electrides since an electron is trapped in them.
As the IE decreases, the frequency of light emitted goes on increasing.
2LiOH + H2O2 → Li – O – O – Li + 2H2O
K2CS3 is called potassium thiocarbonate.
K2CO3 is called pearl ash. Or potash.
Melting point decreases as the strength of metallic bonding decreases with increasing size of the atom.
Due to small size of the Li+, its hydration enthalpy is the highest and hence Li is the strongest reducing agent.
As the ionisation enthalpy increases from Mg → Ba the M - O bond becomes weaker and weaker down the group, and hence basicity increases down the group. Thus, Mg(OH)2 is least basic.
Ionisation enthalpy decreases as the atomic size, increases , so, Li > Na > K > Rb
Be(OH)2 being amphoteric dissolves in NaOH.
