Explanation
Tranisition elements , shows acidic character , as the oxidation state of the elements increases .
In chemical reactivity, Lanthanoids resemble calcium. Thus they readily tarnish in air and burn to give oxides (all give the trioxide, except for cerium which forms CeO2).
Cerium exhibits three oxidation states, +2, +3 and +4. But +2 state is rare observed in some organometallic complexes. Hence the common oxidation states of cerium are +3 and +4.
Brass contains Cu and Zn
Cinnabar (HgS) is an ore of Hg.
Hg2Cl2 (mercurous chloride) is called calomel.
Cu has high electrical conductivity and not low.
Blister copper contains 1% impurity of Fe, Ni Zn, Au Ag.
Parke’s process is used for the extraction of Ag from agentiferrous lead.
Galvanisation is the process of deposition of zinc metal on the surface of Fe to prevent it from rusting etc.
AgBr is highly photosensitive and is used in photographic films and plates.
(2) Zn
Wrought iron having carbon 0.2 – 0.5% is the purest form of iron.
Ag2S is least soluble in water.
Duralumin is an alloy of Mg,Cu Al and Mn.
