Explanation
In Colpitt oscillator, two capacitors are placed across a common inductor and centre of two capacitor is tapped.
For inductive circuit, current lags voltage by π/2 while in capacitive circuit, current leads voltage by 90o or π/2 . On pure resistive circuit both are in same phase.
In L-C-R AC circuit, voltage across inductor L leads current by 90o and voltage across capacitor lags behind the current by 90o . So, voltage across L-C combination will be zero.
A DC ammeter cannot measure AC as DC ammeter reads average value and average value of current for AC is zero. A full cycle of AC contains two half cycle, one with positive current and for second half current is negative . So, net value of current is zero.
To decrease current in AC circuit , we use choke coil.Choke coil has high inductance and negligible resistance. So, energy loss in the circuit is negligible. XL >>> R
As in inductor , current reaches maximum value I0 it falls from I0 to zero. The energy supplied by the source 1/2 LI02 during build up of current is returned back to the source during the fall of current.
So, Net power supplied by the source in a complete cycle is zero.
Secondary voltage will be zero, as transformer doesnot work in battery supply.
Using Fleming’s right hand rule, the direction of magnetic induction B in the region P is downward into the paper.
