Resources can be conserved by following few mantras :

Reduced using: use only how much is essential and not waste the rest.

Reusing: it is nothing but using one product again and again till it loses purpose of existence.

Recycle: it is nothing but completely destroying the resource and converting into new materials and objects. 

Non-renewable: These are the sources that cannot be renewed and are available in limited quantities. Examples include coal, nuclear, oil, and natural gas.

As thermal electricity cannot be renewed if used once, it is a non-renewable source of energy.

All those things which are composed of non-living things are called abiotic resources. For example, rocks and metals.

Things become resources only when they have a value. “Its use or utility gives it a value. All resources have some value.” 

Among the given options iron and cotton have an economic value. Man, when educated, has value. But the grass has no such direct value.

1: Resources can broadly be classified upon their availability — they are classified into renewable and non-renewable resources. Examples of non renewable resources are coal, crude oil etc. Examples of renewable resources are air, water, natural gas, wind, solar energy, etc.
2:The resources which can be renewed or reproduced by physical, chemical or mechanical processes are known as renewable or replenishable resources. For example, solar and wind energy, water, forests and wildlife, etc. 

3: Non-renewable resources occur over a very long geological time. Minerals and fossil fuels are examples of such resources. These resources take millions of years in their formation. Some of the resources like metals are recyclable and some like fossil fuels cannot be recycled and get exhausted with their use
