The Chief Election Commissioner has tenure of six years, or up to the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. He enjoys the same official status, salary and perks as available to Judges of the Supreme Court of India and High court. The Chief Election Commissioner can be removed only through impeachment by the Parliament.

Excessive use of money by rich candidates and big parties.
The free, fair and credible election is one of the prerequisites of democratic governance. In India, an independent and very powerful Election Commission conducts the elections. The Election Commission ensures free and fair elections.
The electoral roll is a listing of all those registered to vote in a particular electoral district as part of an electoral system. The main function of an electoral roll is to combat electoral fraud by enabling authorities to verify the identity and entitlement to a vote of applicants, and to streamline voting on election day, and to ensure a person doesn't vote multiple times.
