I woke up in the morning with the fear of taking the test for which I was not prepared. I prayed to God for the cancellation of the test. As I was getting ready, it started raining heavily. I got dressed up and went to school with my father, and to my surprise, we came to know the school was closed that day due to a rainy day. I was on top of the world when I came to know about it. I returned with my father and came back then undressed. Immediately, I changed into my home clothes to go f\and bathe in the rain on my terrace. I played with my siblings a lot in the rain; we made paper boats as well.


Discipline.

We need discipline in almost every step of life. It is best to practice discipline from the early stages of our life. We all have our dreams and wishes to fulfil, and we are all fighting for those every day. Discipline is the key to achieving any kind of success. Being disciplined is an important part of every individual; it helps us to follow a successful path. A disciplined person knows the correct ways to a successful future. We need to be disciplined in school, college, job life, etc. A person must be disciplined in every sector and phase of his life. The practice of doing all the work correctly on a proper schedule makes a man disciplined.

My parents

My parents are my strength who support me at every stage of life. I cannot imagine my life without them. My parents are like a guiding light who take me to the right path whenever I get lost.  We entered this world because of our parents. It is our parents who have given us life and we must learn to be pleased with it. I am grateful to my parents for everything they do for me. My mother is a homemaker and she is the strongest woman I know. She helps me with my work and feeds me delicious foods. She was a teacher but left the job to take care of her children. I aspire to become like my parents and achieve success in life with their blessings.


My best friend.

Friendship is one of the greatest blessings that not everyone is lucky enough to have. We meet a lot of people in the journey of life but there are only a few who leave a mark on us. My best friend is one such person who has been able to make a positive impact on my life. We have been a part of each other’s lives for the longest time and our friendship is still developing. She has been with me through all the thick and thin. Most importantly, I feel extremely fortunate to have someone as a best friend in my life.


My country

India, our country is the finest example of ‘unity in diversity'. People from different backgrounds and religions live here in peace and harmony. India is a unique country that harbours different kinds of people that speak different languages, eat different foods and wear a variety of clothes. What makes our country special is that despite so many differences, people always live together in peace. It is a country that is home to thousands of villages. Similarly, the fields of India are fed by the mighty rivers. For instance, Ganga, Kaveri, Yamuna, Narmada, and more are rivers of India


Rivers.

Rivers are the backbone of human civilizations which provide freshwater that is the basic necessity for human life. We cannot live without water and rivers are the largest water bodies for freshwater. They are veins of the earth that make life possible. Rivers help in agriculture. In fact, a lot of farmers depend on rivers for their agricultural lands. Rivers have the ability to turn deserts into productive farms. Rivers are essential as they are nature’s blessings for human beings. They provide us with so many things but nowadays, they are being polluted on a very large scale. We must all come together to prevent this from happening and saving our rivers for a better future.


My favourite season

Seasons keep changing but they also come back every year. This is one of my most favourite parts about them. They always return no matter what. Everyone has a favourite season and so do I. My favourite season is the summer season. During the summer holidays, I get to spend time with my family and friends to the fullest. When we get lucky, we even go on family trips. I look forward to them every year, even if it is a small trip. There are so many activities that I get to do during summers like joining summer camps, cycling, swimming, and more. Summers are so bright and exciting that it has always been my favourite season.

It took 12 hours, can you believe it? However, the road was through the hilly regions and I enjoyed beautiful sights. We had some delicious snacks on the way too. Though it took almost 30 hours to reach our destination, it was worth it.

A picnic.

My school organized a picnic on Children’s Day. It has been one of the most memorable days of my life. The school took us to a resort that had swings and greenery. We went there by bus with all our friends. I took a lot of photos with my friends and teachers. During lunchtime, my school gave us a hot and delicious meal which was very nutritious. Everyone loved the meal and finished it in no time. After that, we played a lot of games. The resort was organizing a race so I participated with my friends in it. We got the second position and won a prize containing tasty snacks and fun stationery. Finally, the picnic ended with a group photo together with our friends and teachers. On our way back, we sang so many songs together and enjoyed it a lot during the picnic.

Suresh : This is Suresh Rao. My uncle is not here at the moment. We heard about the earthquake. Is Madhav all right?

    The farewell function for Class X students began with a speech by the current head girl and was followed by the handing over of the school torch to the following years head girl. Mrs Jyoti Shah, an ex-student of the school and a member of the state board, was the chief guest of the event. She gave an inspirational speech along with some tips for the exam and life at large. The function ended with wishes of good luck shared by all.

Advantages or Disadvantages of Television.

Advantages or Disadvantages of Television Modern age is the age of Science. It has provided us with many tools and implements making our life happier and easier. It has proved to be boon to provide us good means of recreation. Television is the best example of it. The television was invented by an Englishman namely John. L. Baird in 1926. It stepped in India in 1965 but gained popularity in 1982 when ninth Asian games were held in Delhi. Today, almost every third house in cities boasts of a television. It is not only confined to cities, gradually it is gaining popularity among the well to do villagers as well. The government is making its best efforts to connect the most far off villages and towns with television network.The first television centre in India was set up  in  Delhi  in 1951 though  public broadcasting began in August, 1965. Now the country has more than two hundred relay stations and about a dozen broad casting  stations. By the end of the seventh plan period it is hoped that all far flung areas will come under television network.The value of television as a means of recreation and mass education is very great. Holding arms in our room we can watch any end of the world.
In the West television has brought about a revolution in the field of education. It has become an important medium in the field of mass education, in Europe, Australia and America. In these countries the peasants are also being benefitted by television. In this sphere Japan's agricultural programme is worth emulation. It is hoped that in near future our television would be broadcasting educative programmes. 
Television has to play a major role in India. Ours is an advancing country which is making giant  strides in every field. However as things stand today in India television is more a means of recreation than means of education. Hence a reorientation of  the television programmes is a must. We have to change our attitude and use television for what it is worth.

Why should we plant trees.

Planting trees is called plantation. Plantation should be protected. Plantation is converted into garden or forest if we protect plantation. Our government has always been recommending the act of plantation. Our late Prime-minister Smt. Indira Gandhi has favoured plantation all over the country. The result is that we see plantation on both the sides of the roads and railway lines.
We need governments and clothes to decorate our body. If we put on beautiful garments, we look beautiful. If we do not use garment to decorate of body we look very odd. In the same way the verdant land looks very beautiful. If we see the land full of green grass, and trees, the sight looks very beautiful. Our earth full of greenery seems to be very charming and attractive. The forests and gardens enhance the beauty of the countryside.
The green leaves of the trees absorb Carbon di-oxide from the air. They send oxygen into the atmosphere. Thus the green leaves of the trees help to replace oxygen used up from the atmosphere.The trees check the soil from being washed away in the rainy season. In rainy season it rains heavily but the roots of the trees hold the soil and prevent it from being washed away.The cool air over forest cools the rain clouds and help to cause rainfall. Therefore rainfall over forest areas is higher than in other places.The trees give us fruits to eat, firewood to burn, food to our domestic animals. They provide us with several useful things as herbs and roots. These herbs and roots are used in manufacturing medicines of all kinds. Thus we can say that trees supply us with oxygen and food. These are the two most important needs of man's life.
Our forest give shelter to the wild animals and the green leaves in the garden or forest give shelter to the different kinds of birds. They give shadow to the people who travel on foot. Trees are the wealth of a nation. There are some trees which supply useful things to us. These trees are rubber, coconut, eucalyptus, cinchona and cow trees. The sap of the cow tree is used in making artificial milk.
In our country a festival of trees is celebrated in Dehradun. It is called 'Van Mahotsava'. Its purpose is to plant trees all over the country. We should plant tree where there is no crop is grown. It will protect our land from being barren.


A Journey by Train.

A journey is always interesting. It educates us more than the books do. Last Monday we decided to visit Ujjain. We reached the station on Tuesday morning. We were quite excited.At the booking window, there was great rush. Any way, we bought our tickets. We, then, went to the platform. There was heavy rush. Some were reading books and others were wandering here and there. All were waiting for the train.The train arrived in time. It stayed there for five minutes. We got into a good compartment.I got a seat near the window and looked outside. The train started at a slow pace. Then gained speed rapidly. The trees, poles and houses seemed to run in the opposite direction. Cattle grazing outside looked towards us in astonishment. Some children waved their hands.
I soon got tired of the outside scenery and decided to play cards. We played cards for some time, then decided to take our dinner and retire. I soon fell asleep. I got up only when the train reached Ujjain. It was an interesting journey.

A cricket match was organised in Muzaffarnagar last week. I went to watch the match along with my friend. I live in Modinagar and Muzaffarnagar is a two hours bus journey from my place. We caught a bus of Uttar Pradesh transportation from the bus depot near my place. It was an old and crowded bus. We didn't get any seats and had to keep standing all through the journey. The passengers were mostly farmers from the nearby villages.
They were very simple and friendly. We were chatting with each other and cracking jokes. It was a long journey and the roads were very bad.
When we finally reached Muzaffarnagar, I felt relaxed. There was a large fair being organised at the place where the match was to be played. There was still time left for the match to begin so we decided to enjoy the fare. There were many stalls of food items and games at the fare and we had great fun.
The match started on its time. It was between two village teams. We were cheering for our team. There was a tough competition between both the teams and finally, our village won the game.
The match was very exciting and enjoyable, but the long journey had made us tired. It was a very good day that left behind many sweet memories.

The 7th of December is going to be marked as the best trip I have experienced in my life. What an amazing trip!! Mum and Dad organised a surprise birthday trip to bring in my birthday.

Manali is a pretty cold place to be around the winters but since I love winters they planned to go there.

I loved the beautiful scenery. Took a lot of pictures with my parents. This trip is beyond imaginable. I am still imagining that I'm in Manali.

We stayed in such a cosy cottage that overlooked the Jogini falls. The cottage had a wide spread of a lot of delicious food. We visited the Hadimba Temple, Mall road , museum of Himachal culture etc.

The pictures that Dad and I were able to capture is mind-blowing. It is true that if your surroundings are beautiful then the pictures that get captured are exquisite.

By far this is the best trip that my parents planned this year.

Dearest Mum,

How are you and dad? I am fine here. Are you surprised to see this letter? Actually, I have come across a beautiful poem by an unknown author and it has captivated my mind. I wanted to talk to you about this, but then I thought I will be able to express myself better in a letter. The name of the poem is called 'Please Listen!'

In this poem, the poet captures the day-to-day behaviour of people nowadays. The poet is beautifully describing the importance of listening. As they say 'Silence is louder than words, this is very true. The poem emphasises the need of listening to people when everyone wants to give you advice on what to do instead of hearing out your problems. They force you to feel a certain way instead of understanding your feelings and sympathising with you. This poem celebrates the diversity in the universe. When a person can accept another person's feelings no matter how irrational then they can stop trying to convince someone to understand the reason behind their feelings. Thus just listening to a person about how they feel and what they desire, is the best thing to do. As one feels accepted and appreciated.

You should read this poem to mum. And show it to dad. I hope that you are keeping good health. I will write to you soon. I'm going to study now as I have my exams facing me soon. Take care.

15th of December, 2020 (name of the school) : Our school organized a science exhibition on the 15th of December, 2020. The exhibition was spread over two days and had a number of students and teachers participating and collaborating hand in hand to make the event successful.

The science fair was named as "Progress of India'' . This exhibition was open to students from other schools as well as their parents. The schools were given invitation passes to visit.

The event started at 10 am and continued till 4 pm. The judging panel for the two days were different. They had to judge the participants that put up their display and give trophies to them.

On the 15th of December, 2020 the event was inaugurated by ( give a name of a personality). The event started by the Principal by giving a warm welcome speech and requested the chief guest to assist him in lighting the lamp.

The students of class 10 did an opening dance to begin the event post which the students set up their tables. The judges were accompanied by the students from class 11 and 12 and explained all the details of the event.

The judges went to each table and meticulously marked them according to their set up.

The announcement of the winners was announced the next day after all the judges had submitted their scores.

Class 10 came third , they had made charts explaining the Solar power tree in villages.

Class 9 achieved the second position and class 11th the first. Class 11th made an apparatus showing how music affects plant growth.

The event was a success and all the participants got a medal with a certificate.

While the Clean India Campaign seemed very ambitious, the reality is far from the truth, as India still suffers from an ever-growing garbage problem, about which neither the government nor the citizens are doing anything significant.


Recent surveys have shown that the quality of waste management, garbage disposal, general sanitation and cleanliness remains poor across India, even though the Clean India Campaign has collected taxes from the citizens but failed to show any significant results. The problem lies in the government’s inability to manage funds and raise public awareness, and also in the people’s attitude towards cleanliness. Obesity in children

These factors can lead children to take in more calories than they need before they feel full. TV commercials and other screen ads can lead to unhealthy food choices. Most of the time, the food in ads aimed at children is high in sugar, salt, or fats.

"Screen time" activities such as watching television, gaming, texting, and playing on the computer require very little energy. They often take the place of healthy physical exercise. Also, children tend to crave unhealthy snack foods they see in TV ads.

Other factors in the child's environment can also lead to obesity. Family, friends, and school setting help shape a child's diet and exercise choices. Food may be used as a reward or to comfort a child. These learned habits can lead to overeating. Many people have a hard time breaking these habits later in life.

Genetics, medical conditions, and emotional disorders can also increase a child's risk for obesity. Hormone disorders or low thyroid function, and certain medicines, such as steroids or anti-seizure medicines, can increase a child's appetite. Over time, this increases their risk for obesity.

An unhealthy focus on eating, weight, and body image can lead to an eating disorder. Obesity and eating disorders often occur at the same time in teenage girls and young adult women who may be unhappy with their body image.

Technology today has revolutionalized our times in all possible ways. From dawn to dusk there is no time where we work without a gadget in our hand. Be it the global plague of mobile phones or our fingers stuck on computers, i-pods, tabs, modem gadgets are such an integral part of our everyday life today that we can't really imagine a world without them.
Today we are completely dependent on modem gadgets. Our mobile phone is like a personal secretary with accounts of all that we do every day. The times when we remembered the phone numbers of important contacts have long gone, now that is the job of mobile to save it in its memory. Everywhere around, we can spot young people with headphones in their ear, connected to their ipods and unaware of their surroundings. Modern gadgets seem to have
helped to connect us virtually but in reality, they have forced us to leads an isolated life. The human connects, especially the amount of time we used to spend with family and friends in past has today reduced to WhatsApp messages and Facebook updates. Perhaps if we go back to such a time when we have our life without modern gadgets, we will be able to come close to our family and friends. The connection between two persons is a human bond. Messages and emails transfer our words but they can't send the emotions which lie behind those words.
Thus in today's time, a life without modern gadgets will be one of human emotions and feelings and not of robotic expressions and methods. We will be able to build relationships and not increase the friend's list. It will be a human life with sensitivity and love.

Water scarcity today has become a big issue which if not dealt with in time, will turn out to be a hazard. To make people aware to conserve water, Meerut Public School joined a campaign organised by various agencies of the city. People in large numbers attended it and were asked to conserve every drop of water and not waste it unnecessarily. Small skits presenting the ways of conserving water were presented by the children. It was an easy approach as the venue of the
campaign was the Public Park and the passersby also stopped to become a part of the campaign. Besides, importance of rain water harvesting and the method to do it was also explained. Without water there is no life. They were encouraged to improve water management practices that reduce the wastage of water and enhance the beneficial uses of water. Some ancient methods of water conservation should also be practiced. In case the water is not used wisely by anyone, then heavy fine should be imposed. Public was motivated by this, and they Joined hands and took oath to use water properly and motivate others also.

The  'Environment Club' of Sun Public School celebrated 'Environment Day' on 5th November in  the school premises. The programme was inaugurated by the Mr Karuppasamy, the eminent environmentalist and presided by our principal. The function began with a special vandana prepared by the school choir group. Many cultural programmes were prepared by the Cultural Group of the school that included a very interesting play on the theme 'Mother Earth' which was highly applauded by all. An essay writing and poster making competition also took place. After distributing the prizes, the Chief Guest gave a speech in which the highlighted the need of conservation. Finally, the day was concluded after a tree plantation drive. The day was a huge success.

"But your father came looking for you. Didn't you get in touch with him ?" said my mother.
"My father and I were never very close. My mother died when I was very young, and the only relative I had was a cousin in West Africa. So that's where I went-Sierra Leone!" said Mrs. Green.

"It's hot and steamy in Sierra Leone", said Mrs. Green.
"But the climate does wonders for your libido. I lived with a wonderful black man for several years."
"What happened to him ?" I asked.
"He was killed in a tribal war", said Mrs. Green without any show of emotion. "It was a long time ago."
"And that skeleton", I asked. "What about the skeleton in the cupboard?"

There were many confusions about skeletons. Suddenly Mrs. Green enquired about the skeleton. Her question and act about the skeleton is in such a way that as to make it appear that something is the case when in fact it is not she didn’t know anything. Well, I tried to take her mind back to the time she was living here and I realised that she knew something, but wouldn't tell us. Suddenly, Mrs. Green became very friendly and narrated an incident, which I am sure was untrue. She said that years ago while she lived at the hotel, she had heard a noise in the middle of the night. She quickly dressed and went to investigate, but before she could reach the landing she saw a man drag, somebody along the staircase and then she heard a door bang. She got frightened and rushed back to her room. The next morning, many guests left the hotel and a few more came. So she forgot the incident. “That”, she said, “must have been the skeleton of the ‘body’ shoved in the cupboard.”

     10th March, 2013: Our school celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June, 2012. The School Principal, Vice Principal, Trustees; Staff members, and students were present for the celebrations. The School Principal welcomed the audience with an opening speech giving an insight to the importance of that day. He made all the spectators aware of the need to take immediate action to save the environment and Mother Earth. Citing examples, he made the concept crystal clear for all. He also announced a compulsory project for all students. Each student had to undertake one environment-friendly action after school hours and was supposed to make a presentation as well. The project needed to be submitted to the respective class teachers who would rate each student on a scale of one to ten. All the students looked excited after the announcement of that innovative project.
     After which the Vice Principal of the school addressed the audience with an enlightening speech mentioning how small endeavors could make a big difference. She requested all to spread the awareness of saving the environment. She ended the speech by saying "Each one can do his bit by stopping the use of plastic bags; stop wasting food, start using public conveyance to save fuel and to start recycling. For a greener tomorrow, each one needs to do his or her bit".
     The next on the agenda was a play enacted by the students of the Junior School. The students were dressed in vibrant costumes and through their simple and innocent act portrayed how human beings were causing harm to the environment and what would be the end result of that damage. The juniors dressed as flowers, butterflies, birds, etc., looked splendid. The trustees gave away awards to the top three actors of the play.
     Next was the most awaited segment, the debate competition for the students of the Senior School. The topic given was relevant to the celebrations - "What is more important, saving the environment or technological advancement at the expense of the environment?" The participants were given half an hour to prepare. The debate was an eye-opener for all. With many valid points highlighted during the discussion, the overall experience was as enriching for the audience as it was for the participants. The school Principal ended the debate by summarizing the pros and cons of the subject. he last time we had them over here I was all alone taking my afternoon nap. The guests were an aged couple. As I came over the door on hearing the bell I was simply freaking out. I sensed danger as a thousand thoughts gushed into my mind. To look modest I had to change my shorts, make tea but cooking was never in my way, cleared up the mess I made in the drawing-room as I was over a paper collage that morning, also then I remembered my mom arguing for eating up all the snacks in the home, the biscuits and the yummy banana chips she made which I can never resist eating till the last bits. She had also then warned on what would we give if some guests suddenly turn in. At that time was so damn sure none would ever visit at least I had to assure myself, since I mentioned about those chips. There was nothing in the home to serve.

I rushed all about clearing up the mess at the drawing, tied up my wrap-around skirt and fitted on the wide smile on face and opened up the door. Invited them in and offered tea. Undoubtedly they accepted. 

Somehow I obtained the approximate colour of tea mother makes by my own calculations on quantity of milk. I served it but no bad comments were made to my satisfaction. I called over my parents and mom said they were not returning soon. She sensed what I wanted to ask but couldn't since the guests were nearby. She finally confessed on the chips she had hidden on the top shelf and the Good day biscuits kept among the spices jars. I was like Wow! My mom is a veteran in reading minds. Also a bit of frowning over the hidden treasures was definitely there.

I served it to them and had to simply stare at them as there was nothing we could converse over for long. As they left my place I took no time in finishing up the snacks that remained. This was how I handled my parents’ guests the last time. The good thing about them is that my mom will then finally confess the hidden snacks.

So, here I would like to share a very humorous incident of my life which I cannot forget in any case.
An incident took place when I was in class 8th. I and my friends were waiting for the teacher to come to the class. The entire class was noisy at that point of time. But, all of a sudden pin drop silence prevailed and I saw the Principal standing in front of me. I was a bit nervous at that moment. Then he asked the same question to another student and got the same reaction from him as well. Finally, when he asked this question to a girl, she in fact started searching under the bench to find something. However, she did not get anything there and she answered 'nothing is there Sir'. Listening to her answer, the entire class started laughing. The Principal was so angry and embarrassed at the same time that he hit her twice on her hand with a wooden scale.
This incident illustrates that we all have different perspectives of life and for all of us the meaning of humour not the same. It all depends upon the individual's point of view.

Well the stretch between SV Road at Milan Junction and the Link Road, passing through Daulat and Rizvi Nagar, is still a nightmare for commuters. I recently read in the papers that this infamous stretch has 179 potholes! To top it up, the rains have turned many of them into small pools of dirty water, the biggest among them measuring 3 X 3 metres with a depth of 10 inches! Naturally, the
motorists struggle every day to commute on this road.
The authorities may take years to act upon this problem. So it is up to us to take the necessary precautions to avoid any fatalities. We need to instruct our bus driver to steer clear of the big potholes. Driving slowly will minimise the inconvenience caused to the passengers. The water filled potholes have to be avoided since it is difficult to gauge their depth. We can also opt for
an alternate route even if it takes longer to get to school. I have decided to distribute these printed instructions to other motorists who use this road. I truly believe that the frequency of accidents can be brought down considerably if everyone adheres to these instructions. Write

A free health check-up camp was organised by Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital and the lions Club Green Valley at Mehuwala village on the outskirts of provisional State capital Dehradun on Sunday. Free electrocardiogram (ECG) and blood pressure tests were also conducted on the people visiting the camp.     Nature has endowed India with huge water resources. We have perennial rivers like Ganga, Brahamaputra, Yamuna and others along with their tributaries and distributaries besides in North and Eastern India, we have spring fed and rain fed rivers in central and peninsular India the major among these being - Godavari, Krishna, Narmada, Tapti and Kaveri.
    These huge potentials water resources are not withstanding. We are facing the water crisis across the country. Over the years, rising population, growing industriliazation and expanding the agriculture have pushed up the demand for water. Monsoon is still the main hope for agriculture. water conservation has become the need of the day. Rainwater harvesting is a way to capture the rainwater at the time of downpour. Store that water above the ground or charge the underground water and use it later.
    This happens in open areas as well as in congested cities through the installation of required equipment. The collection and storage of rainwater from run-off  areas such as roofs and other surfaces has been practised since ancient times in India. It is a particularly useful where water supply is inadequate. Nature has its own system of recharging groundwater. In forest water seeps gently into the ground as vegetation breaks the fall and flow of water. This groundwater on turn feeds wells, ponds, lakes and rivers. Protecting the forests, therefore, means protecting catchment areas. However, with the cutting down of trees, these systems are being hindered.
    In urban areas, the construction of houses, roads and footpaths has left little exposed parts of earth for water to soak in. Most of the water, therefore, runs wastefully through drains. In rural areas, the water quickly takes the form of flood and flows into the rivers which dry up as soon as can be held back, it can seep into the ground and recharge the groundwater supply.
    A sample urban installation of roof rainwater collection in a metropolitan city can be like this : If you live in a single dwelling unit or a multi-tenant apartment complex you already have a 80 per cent of rainwater harvesting system. Only small re-orientation of the plumbing design needs to be done. The existing designs in the cities make all the rainwater from the roof and all the groundwater areas surrounding the house flow towards the street, from where it goes to the drains and runs of wastefully as sewage water. 
    Rainwater harvesting has become a very popular method of conversing water, particularly in the urban areas. Collecting rainwater on the roofs of building and strong it underground for later use has several advantages. It conserves water as a valuable source and stops it from running off wastefully as sewerage water. It provides water during dry season. It also charges the aquifers or the reservoirs of water below the surface of the earth, thus raising the level of underground water table. This is highly beneficial for trees and other vegetation cover which draw mainly from underground water. 
    Rainwater harvesting can also stop ground water contamination. During rainy season, water tends to collect in puddles in low lying areas, in unattented pits on the ground. At time sit gets collected in empty tins, containers, tires or other waste material. Such water gets contaminated within a few hours and becomes  a breeding ground for insects and vectors like mosquitoes which spread malaria, dengue, meningitis and chikungunya. With rainwater harvesting, all these problems can be solved to some extent if not entirely. If such efforts by the people are supplemented by proper plans and implementation by the government water shortage in India can be overcome.

The election to the Rajasthan legislative assembly was held on December 7. As per the Election Commission of India, the votes in Rajasthan will be counted on December 12, along with four other states Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Chhattisgarh.

India Today TV will declare the exit poll results after the polling in Rajasthan ends on December 7.

The BJP and the Congress are the main contenders in the Rajasthan assembly election 2018. The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are also contesting the Rajasthan polls.

Rajasthan is important for the BJP and the Congress as it sends 25 MPs to the Lok Sabha. Currently, the BJP has 23 MPs while the Congress has only two.

This was a really interesting activity as we got to listen to everybody’s perspective about the importance of the camp. Our teachers also came up and shared their views on the importance of such camps and the positive impact they have on our young minds.

This camp was a memorable experience for all of us as at the end of it, we took home many important skills and lessons. This camp not only taught us about various cultures and their lifestyles but along with this we learnt to work efficiently as a part of a team. Along with this, we learnt to socialize with other people and develop better communication skills.

A blood donation camp was organized in our club last Sunday. It was held in the club hall. All the preparations such as arrangement of beds, sanitation etc were made. A team of doctors and nurses from the local Govt hospital had reached in time. The Chief Guest of the Camp was the SDO of the city. He inaugurated the Camp by cutting the ribbon. The members of our club and the other clubs besides the people of the city were participating in the camp. I was also enthusiastic for donating my blood. I was laid to bed with a soft ball in my hand. Then the process of extracting the blood off my body started. The process took more than half an hour. After it, along with the another donators, I was given fruits and milk. There were also very prominent people of the city who were there to donate blood. The Blood Donation Camp continued till 3:0 pm. After that, the Chief Guest delivered the speech extolling those who had donated their blood. He told the audience that the donated blood would be used for saving the lives of the injured and the sick. One of the doctors also addressed the audience saying that the blood donation does not weaken the the donators. The recovery takes place very soon. He talked about facts/ myths/ Blood Groups related information. The SDM also handed over the Certificates to the blood donators. It was followed by a Cultural Programme. The students of our school presented the cultural items. Everybody enjoyed that. The Blood Donation Camp was ended with National Anthem. It was certainly a memorable day for me. I along with other people decided to donate blood in future also.

What Is Fashion For Modern Teenagers?

Teenagers are youths who fall within the age group of between thirteen and nineteen years. This is the adolescent stage of a growing adult. Adolescence comes with its share of hurdles and joys. This is because many teenagers tend to become rebellious with respect to authority and often do the opposite of what is expected of them. This new attitude is not usually their fault, but due to the hormonal changes going on in their growing bodies. They, thus, look for ways to express that they are not children any more, and can do whatever they please as growing adults. One of the ways in which teenagers express themselves is through fashion. Fashion can be defined as the general form of dressing up (Magie 3). It is all about the physical presentation of a person. Fashion changes with time. For instance, a dressing style that was deemed fashionable ten years ago can be considered outdated today. People, and especially teenagers, use fashion to communicate. A good example of this is that it is accepted in fashion to wear a black outfit to a funeral ceremony. This shows that one is in mourning. There are people who care little about what they wear, while others give it great importance and are keen to keep in touch with the latest fashion trends.
Fashion is dictated by several elements. Celebrities such as musicians, cultural icons and actors, greatly influence the fashion world (Magie 37). This happens because celebrities are almost a brand by themselves. They, therefore, tend to create a trademark fashion look that they can always be identified with. More so, the fastest way for fashion designers to release and get exposure for a new design is by allowing a celebrity to wear it (Tungate 6). If people like how the celebrity looks, they will definitely adopt it.
To a teenager, fashion is a form of identity (Magie 220). This means that they use fashion to show themselves as belonging to a certain group. A good example to illustrate this is the Gothic style of dressing. With respect to identity, a teenager may use fashion to communicate their personalities (Tungate 2). A shy and reserved teenager will often go for simple outfits with muted colors. A more outgoing personality is not afraid of trying out fads that have not been worn by anyone else. They are even not afraid to wear bright colors, or even, a combination of colors. Notably, a teenager may want to identify themselves with a celebrity by the use of fashion.
A teenager may use fashion to attract someone from the opposite sex (Magie 223). It is common knowledge that teenagers like to feel wanted, and fashion is one way to get them the attention they much desire. Teenagers also have a tendency to give in to pressure to wear the latest fashion styles. Peer pressure is one of the main issues that teenagers have (Magie 224). If one does not adhere to the latest fashion styles, then their friends tend to tease them and even push them out of their social circles.
Conclusively, fashion is a very important factor as far as teenagers are concerned. They will do all they can to make sure that they spot the latest fashion styles. At times, pressure from friends may compel teenagers to do whatever it takes to acquire fashionable items for themselves. Therefore, fashion has its benefits and negative consequences for teenagers.

No matter how bad a student we may have been at school, mum always tucked us lovingly into bed and prayed for bad dreams to go away.
School projects, impending exams, weekly tests; these were all I don't care for us but nightmares for our parents. No matter how close the exam day was, we would continue to sleep for those extra five minutes in bed while mum gathered material for us to quickly revise our lessons. While we spend the evenings playing downstairs, our parents would invoke all the creative spirits and complete our projects and assignments. We got to walk gloriously in school when the assignment they completed gave us A+. We were untouched by stress and the struggles of being responsible for ones actions all the time.
In conclusion, I reiterate that school days are the happiest days of our lives because we are protected, loved unconditionally, and free from worldly responsibilities. At the end of a day in school, our feet were dirty, hair was messy, but our eyes were sparkling with a wish to have another wonderful day at school tomorrow.

For some school goers, the sun is always shiny and people around are always nice. But for some school goers, school is not the happiest memory of their childhood. It is full of peer pressure, lack of confidence and being bullied.

Good moments can be captured at any time. There is no fixed time to encounter moments that will leave an impression in our mind, body and soul. The journey to school and back every morning, proves to be a sight that is not only appealing but also soothing.

On my way to school one morning, I had encountered various sounds of birds in the trees that seemed like they were excited for the new day. It looked more like they were greeting one another in excitement. In a distance the sound of a rooster was saying cock-a -doodle-do like an alarm waking up his master. There were some passersby drinking a hot cup of tea early in the morning before they head to work.

Half way down the road I had noticed a group of elderly folks being shown different kinds of exercises that made me realise that fitness is for everyone. In the same field there were some adults doing free hand exercises.

A few steps away a little girl was plucking some flowers from a tree into a small plastic basket. She had made a little necklace of one and hung it around her neck, as though she was flaunting it to everyone.

There was a lot of noise now as I had approached the main road. The sounds of the cars, autos and buses seemed high on energy as their day had started. The early morning office goers were anxiously waiting to get their mode of transport. I saw two elders standing by the side of the road discussing the weather as the temperature had suddenly dropped.

I walked along the pavement and saw a street dog cuddled up to her puppies trying to keep them warm. I had a packet of biscuits in my bag, I broke some of them and kept it near them so that they would eat it later.

I now had almost reached my destination and my best friend caught up with me and we both entered the gate together to start my day. The sound of the school bell suddenly brought me back to reality as I was distracted with all the activities I witnessed.

After school had ended, on my journey back the same scene seemed more chaotic as there were more people. The hustle and bustle on the roads disoriented me and I had to walk back quickly home without being able to experience my journey properly

I preferred the journey on going to school rather than the journey back. we get so caught up in our day to day lives that we forget to appreciate the finer things in life.

Early morning walks are by far the best time for me as Its much quieter and I get to experience the various soothing sounds and scenes in comparison to the noise after noon time.

Lady Luck smiles upon him as Balram was asked to accompany the property owner's son to Delhi as a driver. In Delhi, Balram understands the ways of the city society. A keen observer and a fast learner, Balram realizes fastly that slight dishonesty should bring him sufficient money for any security in near future. He kills his master along with which he runs off to Bengaluru and years later, Balram is viewed as a good influential member of the Bengaluru power circle productively steering his career derived from one height completely to another.

An N.G.O. is going to organize a 'Free Eye Operation Camp' in your locality. Compose a report with the help of the given hints in about 100 words.

A free eye check up camp was organised by Bhrarat Vikas Parishad at Howrah on Sunday. Dr. Rohit Sen, Dr Souradeep Bose, and Dr Fawad Taslim examined around 300 patients while 43 were referred for eye surgery. The organizers also distributed free medicines and lunch packs to the visitors in the camp. Free lenses and spectacles were also given to patients.   "Such initiatives are helpful for poor people like me who cannot afford expensive procedures and medicines.  The doctors at the camp also assured a free surgery after which I will be able to see properly”, said, Chunibala Devi (75), a patient.

A Report on Annual Day Celebration

Junior College  celebrated its Annual Day along with Department of Science, Humanities and Commerce on the 06th June, 2019 at Derozio Hall, Derozio building. It was presided by the Guest of Honor Dr. Romila Thapar (eminent historian) and Mr. Sugata Bose was the esteemed Chief Guest. Among other dignitaries present were Mrs. Anuradha Lohia (Vice Chancellor, Junior College), and directors of other department. The programme commenced with the College anthem with feeling of inspiration and togetherness and after well come dance performed by FY M.Com students. After annual report of institution were presented by Dr. Madhura Damle and Mrs. Divya Paulrose. This was followed by the lighting of the Ceremonial lamp by the Hon’ble Chief Guest, Guest of honor and other dignitaries escorted by the Dr. Anuradha Lohia. The Chief Guest, Guests of honor and other dignitaries on dice were felicitated by the students. Dr. Anuradha Lohia (I/c. Director) gave his welcome speech and introduction of Chief Guest. In her speech, she highlighted the achievements of the institute, students and faculty members during last academic year. She also motivated students for do better in future. The formal function of annual day ended with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Sumit Chakroborti. After the formal functions, Cultural event was diligently organized. The performances opened with a group dance from BBA girls. Various events in the field of dramatics, dance, and singing were performed by students. However, everybody enjoyed cultural functions. The audience comprising students, faculty, staff, non-teaching staff etc., enjoy every item of the programme with a great fun. At last much awaited event dance on DJ was enjoyed by students. Success of this event couldn’t possible without commendable effort and meticulous planning of last year students of Science, Commerce and Arts along with the cultural union of the institute.
