A decomposition reaction is a type of chemical reaction in which a single compound breaks down into two or more elements or new compounds. Hence it is an example of decomposition/recombination reaction.
In "$$AB \rightarrow A+B $$" the compound $$AB$$ decompose in $$A $$ and $$B.$$
Copper is oxidized by concentrated nitric acid, $$HN{ O }_{ 3 }$$, to produce $${ Cu }^{ 2+ }$$ ions; the nitric acid is reduced to nitrogen dioxide, a poisonous brown gas with an irritating odor.
