Between two friends-the one a believer, and other a disbeliever, in ghost stories.
F1: Do you believe in ghosts?
F2: No. Not at all. Why? Do you?
F1: Yes. I've heard so many ghost stories.
F2: Those are only stories. They have no reality.
F1: No no! Trust me. My grandfather has told me those stories and he has even experienced such incidences.
F2: As much as I am aware, no such things exist. Only positive energies do.
F1: I do agree that positive energies are there, but there are negative as well.
F2: I can believe only if I experience them myself.
We may add similar points.
Between two class-fellows on a poem they have read in the class.
F1: Hey! Did you understand the poem discussed in the class today?
F2: Yes. Maybe a little.
F1: Yes. Same here. I think it is a beautiful poem teaching us about how man always tends to choose an easier path leading to his dreams. It teaches how we can grow in life through discipline.
F2: Yes. It is really beautiful.
F1: There are so many of such poems in the syllabus. I really enjoy reading them.
F2: Yes. I am thinking of writing a poem to display at the Annual Exhibition.
F1: Oh really! That's really nice. I like reading poems but I can't think of writing one.
Which should be the medium of education in our school-English or the vernaculars?
Harry: Hey, what do you think should be the medium of education in school?
Jamie: I think English should be the one, as it the top most language that is understood in most countries.
Harry: But vernaculars are also important. Many developing countries are yet to use English as their official language.
Jamie: English will also be helpful to us as in a competitive world, we will learn it more easily if it was our medium of instruction.
Harry: That is correct, however, don't you think it will be easier to understand ideas if they are explained in native language?
Jamie: They are many languages, it is difficult to cater to each student based on their native language, so English can be used as a common medium.
Harry: Yes. However, we are also losing our culture and language by giving too much importance to English.
Jamie: I think there are pros and cons of both the options.
Harry: Yes, many students feel secure learning about their academics in vernaculars. I think depending on standards and difficulty of subjects it should be decided.
