Quit India Movement : 
The Quit Mita Movement was started by Gandhiji ns 1942. The main aim of the movement was to demand's:complete withdrawal of the British from India. 
1. The failure of cripps mission (1942) forced Gandhiji to intensify the agitation. 
2. Japan became victorious in the initial years of the second world war. Gandhiji thought that India could be the next target fur Japan. Therefore, the congress demanded the immediate withdrawal of 'the British from India. 
3. Gandhiji gave the slogan "Quit India" Indicating the British that they should leave India immediately.
4. The historic resolution passed in Bombay echoed . the sentiments of millions of Indians across the country. 
5. Many congress leaders including; Gandhi, Nehru and Abul Kalam Azad were arrested and jailed.
6. Indians protested the arrest in agitating against the British Violence broke out in menu places. 
7. In England, the labour patty came to power under the leadership of Clement Attlee. He tarsi a great supporter of the Indian freedom struggle.
8. Clement Attlee withdrew all the restrictions imposed on the congress by the British. He set up a mission to find a solution for India's problem.

The liberal families supported the education of women to study or read as they believed education and reading would make the women corrupt. This led the counter reaction, as most of the oppressed women began to study and read books and learnt writing secrecy. Some literate women started to write books and their autobiographies. The spread of print culture in 19th century India benefited Indian women through learning and education.

Hind Swaraj or Indian Home Rule is the book written by Gandhiji In 1909. After the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre and death of Bal Gangadhar Tikal, Mahatma Gandhi announced the Non Cooperation Movement in August 1920.

In 1907 Bharathiyar participated in the Surat conference, supported the demand for swaraj along with Tilak and Aurobindo. In April 1907, he became the editor of the Tamil weekly 'India'. At the same time he also edited the English newspaper 'Bala Bharatham'.
In Madras, in 1908, he organized a huge public meeting to celebrate 'Swaraj Day'. His poems 'Vande Matharam', 'Enthaiyum Thayum', Jaya Bharatham, were printed and distributed free to the Tamil People.
He gave evidence in the case which had been instituted by the British against 'Kappalotiya Thamizhan', V.O. Chidambaram Pillai. In the same year the proprietor of 'India' was arrested in Madras. Faced with the prospect of arrest, Bharathiyar escaped to Pondicherry which was under the French rule. From there he edited and published the dailies, weekly and monthly. But the British banned them in India in 1909.
After the world war I, Bharat entered British India near cuddalore in November 1918. He was arrested and released after three weeks in custody. Those were the years of hardship and poverty. Bharathiyar resumed editorship of swadesha mithren in Madras. He passed away on September 11, 1921. Today, more than 90 years later, Subramanya Bharathi stands an undying symbol not only of a vibrant Tamil nationalism but also of the unity that is India.

The Lahore Congress - 1929 : 
The Congress met at Lahore under the Presidentship of Jawaharlal Nehru In 1929. It declared Puma Swam) or Complete Independence for India as Its goal.
